Interested in help with a child or relationship? Or perhaps need a psychiatric
consultation? Want a caring interactive therapist? I am a psychiatric mental health nurse
practitioner. My practice is multidimensional in focus. I have trained in the psychotherapies, as
well as the medical aspects of mental health issues such as taking medical histories, ordering
and interpreting lab work, diagnosing conditions, and managing medications. In addition, my
nursing background helps me care for the spiritual well being along with the physical.
Although I love and frequently do marriage counseling and family therapy in my practice, I specialize in
the treatment of mental health issues: depression, anxiety disorders, OCD, PTSD, ADHD,
schizophrenia, bipolar illness, and eating disorders which often require medication consultation
and management. I have over 25 years of varied experience working with adolescents, adults
and children.
I am especially interested in helping those who have been disappointed with traditional methods
of "past-focused" psychotherapy. Unlike traditional psychology, I spend less time on the distant
past and more time on the here and now and how to solve current problems. Short-term
Cognitive Behavioral Therapy is a special interest.
I view most problems as multifactorial in nature that must be treated holistically. There is
usually no one cause but a combination of biological, genetic, cultural, and spiritual factors,
including family upbringing, health issues, harmful habits, among other issues. Using evidence-
based knowledge I can help with all of these.
